The violent events registered on December 31 in the Ficoa neighborhood, in Ambato, continue to draw the attention of authorities and citizens.
As part of the incidents, images of the attack on a young man in the last hours circulated on social networks.
Given this, this Tuesday leaders of the sector announced that they will be pending the legal processes that are directed to sanction those who organized and carried out these events because they consider that the lives of many people were attacked.
Likewise, through social networks, it was announced that the young man who was attacked would have died, before which a statement was sent from the Ambato Norte district of the National Police.
“At the moment, the National Police has not carried out the removal of the corpse or people attacked on December 31, 2021 in the Ficoa sector. I request very restrained, appealing to your sensitivity of the news, not to continue spreading until there is the pertinent pronouncement of the specialized units of the Police, ”the document warns.
Meanwhile, José Espín, president of the Central Committee of Ficoa and the Ficoa para Vivir collective, assured that a document was sent to the government and municipal authorities on the events that occurred in that sector of Ambate and will be awaiting the responses in order to initiate legal actions in the Public Prosecutor’s Office or the competent entity so that those responsible are punished.
Andrés López, president of the Municipal Citadel, stated that that day minors were observed driving motorcycles while intoxicated on the sidewalk, putting not only their lives at risk but also those of passersby, street fights, damage to private property and even people jumping on vehicles without the consent of the owners.
He said that they trust that the call they make will be echoed by the authorities, so that the violent events are not repeated in that area of the city.
Carlos Pico, president of Ficoa Las Palmas, was surprised by what happened on December 31. In thirty years he has lived in the area, he indicated, he has never experienced a similar situation.
Oswaldo Reinoso, president of the Los Girasoles urbanization, considered that the consumption of alcoholic beverages among young women and men and even minors, without authorities to help control, usually occurs on weekends or any day.
Operations in the city at the end of the year
For his part, the Tungurahua Police Mayor, Diego Proaño, defended the authorities’ management and reiterated that there was due planning to carry out the work on December 31 between different institutions. In total, 495 general operations were carried out in the province, of which 107 were carried out in Ambato. In addition, in the canton there were 57 evictions of 76 that were carried out in the province.
He added that of the 57 evictions that were carried out in different sectors of Ambato, people focused on Ficoa, something that was not expected to happen, noting that the violent events were recorded on public roads. He affirmed that with the police report of what was raised in Ficoa, legal actions will be presented to the Prosecutor’s Office, so that those who committed the infractions are punished with the maximum rigor of the law.
