Ecuadorian coffee chain launches new version of Rosca de Reyes made with healthy ingredients

Every January 6, Kings Day is celebrated and it is traditional to consume donuts stuffed with delicacy, pastry cream and others.

With the aim of encouraging healthy consumption through food balance, the rosca de reyes healthy, a product made with nutritional and healthy values.

The thread was created last December by the cafeteria Prot Inn, which has been on the market for five years.

Its concept is based on products with protein and sugar-free foods, refined flours and healthy fats.

“It is the first year that we have made a special line, which we call” Taste the x-mas “(try Christmas), which includes the adaptation of these traditional products: panettone, cookies, rosca de Reyes, hot chocolate”, he says David Pareja, CEO of Prot Inn.

The rosca de Reyes is made with oatmeal, eggs, protein, erythritol, orange and other ingredients that provide nutritional value.

According to Pareja, the product has been quite popular in Guayaquil and Quito during these days. The sale of the thread will be valid until January 9 and has a cost of $ 25.

The Prot Inn cafeteria has seven points of sale: four in Guayaquil and three in Quito. They also have the service of delivery via app mobile, website and via WhatsApp.

“We are moving towards conscious consumption, showing that eating and feeling good is not associated with strict diets, but with finding balance through a new way of eating, behaving and feeling good. We work so that people know the impact that food generates on their body, and that this in the future will not accommodate those products and places that cause damage to their health, ”says Pareja.

Prot Inn posted a increase in its demand of 150% in 2021 compared to 2020. This increase was accompanied by the expansion from four points of sale to seven, points out Pareja.

In the cafeteria you can also find snacks, sandwiches, coffee, super foodbowls, ice creams, shakes, market, drinks. It also has an extensive menu such as tigrillo, keteños (cheese fingers light), a brownie made with almond flour, unsweetened cocoa, stevia, egg, sugar-free chocolate and protein, lemon pie, cake orange and wet with keto chocolate.

For the latter they use almond flour, whey protein isolate, eggs, erythritol, organic cocoa, coconut oil, and stevia.

The vegan line is also present in the cafeteria. They have it since 2021 in dishes like vegan bbq chicken sandwich.

“We are aware that following a nutritional plan is easy, if all we do is dedicate ourselves to cooking our meals. But in reality no one has that lifestyle and on the contrary many times we are active or on the move, so we do not have the time or desire to prepare something healthy. In Prot Inn we know this reality and we have taken the work thinking about our clients, creating food and snacks healthy.
