One of the criminals was shot and is recovering in a hospital; the other was taken to the Prosecutor’s Office and awaits the hearing.
Anti-narcotics police who were conducting investigations in the Las Delicias sector, in the northwest of Guayaquil, saw in flagrant crime how two minors who were riding a motorcycle assaulted a passerby in the area.
When the police tried to arrest the youths, they allegedly opened fire on the officers who were in a yellow taxi and there was a shooting in which a 15-year-old boy, identified as Jeremy G., was shot in the shoulder.
The other young man, Dave T., 16, was apprehended by police officers when they fell off the motorcycle while fleeing.
The wounded man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was treated by medical personnel who determined that he had been shot in the shoulder blade. The other minor was transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office.
The vehicle in which the policemen were mobilized resulted with several holes in the windshield. The gendarmes were unharmed.
As evidence, the uniformed men presented several cell phones, backpacks, a weapon and the motorcycle in which the minors were riding. (I)
