The European Commission received a complaint from Naftogaz, which declared the dominant position of Gazprom

The European Commission received a complaint from NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy that Russia’s Gazprom holds a dominant position in the European gas market. It is reported by “Interfax”.

“We have received a complaint. We will review it in accordance with our standard procedures, ”said Tim McPhee, a spokesman for the European Commission.

Earlier, the head of Naftogaz, Yuri Vitrenko, said that gas prices in Europe rose due to the fact that Gazprom reduced the sale of its own gas in the European spot market, and also limited the ability of other companies to supply additional volumes of gas to Europe and compete with the Russian company. We add that, according to Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak, the main reasons for the rise in gas prices in the European Union, which in the past year exceeded $ 2 thousand per thousand cubic meters, are the rejection of long-term contracts in favor of spot contracts, long-term investments in the industry and a fall own production of “blue fuel” in Europe.
