Coffee is one of the drinks that can lower blood pressure. This is reported by the portal Yahoo News Japan with reference to the words of the director of the Japanese clinic “Shibaura” Hiroshige Itakura.
At the same time, he points out, vinegar or lemon should be added to coffee. Itakura recommends drinking three to four cups of this drink a day to keep the polyphenols active, according to PRIME.
The doctor also notes that chlorogenic acid, which gives the bitterness and color of coffee, has a number of beneficial properties, including antibacterial action in the intestines, prevention of decreased liver function, as well as myopia and presbyopia.
According to the expert, chlorogenic acid stabilizes blood pressure, prevents atherosclerosis and helps burn more fat, which leads to increased energy expenditure. Moreover, it is able to suppress inflammation in the body, reduce the formation of plaques on the walls of blood vessels and protect the endothelial cells in them, while maintaining their elasticity.
And to enhance the effect of this acid, Itakura recommends adding vinegar. The effect is stronger than that of vinegar and coffee separately.
We also recall that earlier scientists found out which drink can improve blood pressure indicators. The material was published in the European Journal of Nutrition.
After examining data from 45 studies, experts found that, on average, systolic pressure in those who drank cranberry juice decreased by 1.52 mm Hg, and diastolic – by 1.78 mm Hg.
