Grape shipping grew 7.4% in October, boosting export campaign

The grape export campaign 2021-2022 started in a favorable way, adding last October US $ 81 million 859,000, this is 7.4% more than in the same month of 2020 when the amount amounted to US $ 76 million 245,000, reported the Agroexport Management of the Association of Exporters (Adex).

The main markets were the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the United States, which together accounted for 66% of the total.

Others were South Korea, Spain, Canada, Hong Kong, Germany, Colombia, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Russia, out of a total of 32.

Those with the highest growth – located in the top 10 – were South Korea (US $ 3 million 672,000) with an evolution of 255%, Germany (US $ 2 million 663,000) with 56% and Spain (US $ 3 million 228,000) with 54%.

It should be remembered that in 2020 Peru was positioned as the second world exporter, after China. According to a report by the CIEN-ADEX Global Business and Economy Research Center, that year the Asian nation shipped that fruit for US $ 1,212 million 700,000, achieving a participation of 13.6% and an increase of 22.8%, while Peru did it for US $ 991 million 100,000, representing 11.1% (increase of 22.1%).

January-October balance

Regarding the accumulated January-October 2021, shipments amounted to US $ 610 million 386,000, presenting a growth of 23.7% compared to the same period in 2020 (US $ 493 million 621,000).

Likewise, it ranked third in the ranking of the agro-export supply, after blueberries and avocados. Ica led sales abroad by adding US $ 412 million 519,000. It was followed by Piura, La Libertad, Arequipa, Ancash and Lambayeque, among others.

In the period analyzed, this Peruvian fruit reached 52 destinations, the United States led the ranking with US $ 241 million 486,000 and an increase of 12.8% (participation of 39.6%). In second place was Hong Kong (US $ 85 million 224,000) and in third place the Netherlands (US $ 84 million 600,000).

Mexico (US $ 24 million 668,000), Spain (US $ 22 million 794,000) and China (US $ 22 million 337,000) also stood out. They completed the top ten United Kingdom, South Korea, Canada and Colombia. Only China, in sixth place, reduced its demand by -2.5%.
