Russian businessman Vladislav Klyushin, extradited to the United States from Switzerland, had access to information about interference in the US presidential elections in 2016 and about secret GRU operations abroad. This is reported by RBC with reference to Bloomberg, which learned about this from sources “familiar with the issues of Russian intelligence” and close to the Kremlin and the special services.
According to the publication, Klyushin has access to documents that prove that the hacking of the servers of the US Democratic Party during the 2016 presidential election was led by a team associated with Russian military intelligence, which American cybersecurity companies called Fancy Bear or APT28. Sources suggested that this information could provide the US with documentary evidence of the impact on the US elections.
Three sources said Klyushin had access to classified information about other GRU operations abroad, including hacker attacks and the attempted poisoning of ex-GRU Colonel Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in the UK in 2018.
Vladislav Klyushin is the founder and owner of the M13 IT company, which, for example, has developed the Katyusha media monitoring system, Kommersant reports. Klyushin was arrested in March 2021 at the request of the United States and charged with “tens of millions of insider deals.”
