Dog breeds that do not give allergies

There are lovers of dogs who must deprive themselves of their company because they have allergy. Allergy to dogs is caused by allergens which are generally found both in the fur as in his saliva o la skin of the animal. However, there are some dogs that produce less dander and shed almost no hair.

If your allergy is to the protein present in the animal’s dander and skin, it is essential that the hair does not fall too much or that, directly, they do not have it. However, although they are ‘hypoallergenic’ dog breeds, still produce a small amount of allergens and it is possible that they provoke some reaction. Therefore, and because each person has a different situation, it is best to consult with your doctor about having a dog from among these breeds.

Dog breeds that do not give allergies

1. American terrier without.

Perhaps you have never considered this option, but there are breeds that do not have hair and, therefore, do not produce dandruff, as is the case of the American Hairless Terrier. It is a very intelligent, active and affectionate dog, with an elegant appearance and an athletic body. Although it is not very well known, the dogs of this breed are easy to train and very playful.

2. Yorkshire Terrier

Much better known is the Yorkshire Terrier, a great companion for those who live in flats. Although it has hair, it does not lose it and produces very few allergens. Of course, you should brush it daily to prevent its hair from getting tangled and dirty.

3. Other Terrier breeds

Wheatens have soft hair and do not shed fur either. In addition, they are excellent family companions. The same goes for Kerry Blue Terriers, who are good companions and shed very little hair. The largest of the Terriers is the Airedale, also ideal for allergy sufferers. They are protective and adore children.

4. Bichon

The Bichon Maltese, the Frize and the Bolognese are dog breeds that do not cause allergies. They are small, but with huge personalities, ideal for families with children. They need daily hygienic care, paying special attention to their eyes and tear ducts, but they are well known and hypoallergenic dogs.

5. Poodles

Large or small, the poodle is a great option since they have beautiful hair that does not fall out. They are very intelligent, easy to train, and excellent family companions.

6. Labradoodle

This cross between Labrador Retrievers and the Standard Poodle shares the same qualities as its ancestors and prevents constant shedding of the coat.

7. Schnauzer

Because of its beauty, it is one of the most popular breeds. In addition, it is an easy-to-train dog ideal for allergy sufferers. They tend to get along well with children and adults, but they need a lot of attention and do not like to spend too much time at home alone.

8. Water dogs

Dogs of this breed have a curly coat that does not shed from their skin, so they do not cause allergies. Of course, you should pay attention and brush it often with a specific brush.

9. Hypoallergenic Chinese breeds

The Shih Tzu is an affectionate, active and intelligent dog that, with daily brushing and proper haircuts, does not cause allergies or cause asthma. Chinese Crests barely have hair and what little they have they do not lose, so they are hypoallergenic.

10. Greyhounds: Italian, English and Afghan

The first two have such short hair that they do not cause allergies. The Afghan greyhound, on the other hand, has a long and flowing coat, but it falls very little. All of them stand out for their noble, loyal and faithful character.

11. Samoyedo

It is a very hairy dog, since it has two layers of fur. But it is these two layers that, precisely, prevent them from producing dandruff. They are affectionate, large and playful dogs.

If among all the above you have not found your ideal partner, there are still some options such as the Basenji, the Coton de Tulear, the Peruvian Hairless Dog, the Irish Water Spaniel, or different types of Terrier: Bedlington Terrier, Carin Terrier, Dandie Dimmont Terrier, Sealyham Terrier, Welsh Terrier, Scottish Terrier, West Highland White Terrier …
