For refusing to return with her ex-partner, a woman was murdered in Babahoyo

The victim was stabbed in the kitchen of his house when his sons went shopping. The suspect fled.

Ana Martillo Mota was killed with three stab wounds inside her house at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 29. The suspect in the crime is the former partner of the victim.

The femicide occurred in the San José sector, belonging to the Babahoyo de Los Ríos canton, a town that borders the San Juan parish of the Guayas province.

According to relatives of the victim, the suspect in the crime used a knife to attack the woman, who was alone in her home where she also lived with her daughter. They related that, although they tried to defend her, it was impossible.

“Several months ago this man had been threatening her with death, because she was reluctant to resume the relationship, she began to follow her and the harassment got worse and worse. They were already separated a few months ago, ”said one of their sons.

After the violent event, the alleged perpetrator fled, the Police reported.

The 45-year-old woman orphaned three minor children, her relatives said.

Personnel from the Directorate of Investigations of Crimes Against Life, Violent Deaths (Dinased) of the Milagro canton carried out the removal of the body, which was transferred to the Babahoyo morgue.

This year, 112 femicides have been registered nationwide, according to figures obtained by the Center for the Promotion and Action of Women. In addition, almost 65 women have been murdered by organized crime and seven transfemicides have been registered in Ecuador. (I)
