At least 923 violent deaths occurred in the province of Guayas and only in Guayaquil there are 600 cases

At the national level, the figure also rises alarmingly. From 1,102 cases in 2020, it rose to 2,464 murders in 2021. This is revealed by official figures from the National Police.

Of the national number of violent deaths, 330 victims were murdered in prisons. They are prisoners who have died in the massacres registered this year. In the Litoral Penitentiary alone, more than 200 men have lost their lives. Last year 50 inmates were assassinated nationwide.
