A criminal case was opened against a resident of the Vladimir region due to the fact that he did not inform the police about an acquaintance who made an entry on the VKontakte social network with a positive assessment of the terrorist attack in France. This is reported by TASS with reference to the regional FSB.
According to the investigation, in October 2020, a resident of the Komi Republic published on his page on the social network text entries justifying terrorism and containing a positive assessment of the actions of the radical Islamist who committed the terrorist attack in Conflans-Saint-Honorion (France). This act, as specified, falls under Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Public justification of terrorism”).
The man told a friend about his publication, a resident of the Vladimir region, in October 2021. However, during the interrogation, the latter deliberately concealed this fact from the FSB officer. Thus, a criminal case was initiated against the man under Art. 205.6 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Failure to report a crime”).
TASS clarifies that the author of the post is a citizen of one of the countries of Central Asia. He was detained in Moscow and then transported to Syktyvkar. From there he was sent to the Vladimir region to carry out investigative actions.
The agency’s source adds that the man is in a pre-trial detention center.
We will remind, on October 16, 2020 in the French city of Conflans-Saint-Honorine, a radical Islamist killed the teacher of history and geography Samuel Pati. The extremist also tried to threaten the arriving policemen with a knife, but was shot dead. After that, another series of terrorist attacks took place in France.
