Chief oncologist of the Russian Ministry of Health Kaprin allowed cancer patients to be vaccinated with “Sputnik”

It is safe for patients with cancer to be vaccinated with the Sputnik V vaccine. According to the chief freelance oncologist of the Russian Ministry of Health, Andrei Kaprin, this is the most proven vaccine recommended for cancer patients, RIA Novosti reports.

He said that at the first stage of vaccination, many people, when visiting vaccination points, did not say that they had cancer and “got” themselves vaccinated.

No toxic reactions were observed after this, according to Caprin. “That is, in fact, such ‘disobedient’ volunteers, but you see, everything worked out, that is, it (the vaccine – ed.) Is low-toxic, it can and should be vaccinated by cancer patients,” Kaprin said.

Earlier, the St. Petersburg Health Committee reported that Sputnik V would not harm patients who completed anticancer treatment, and vice versa, it was shown to them. With a compromised immune system, the vaccine has a beneficial effect on the state of the body, however, the effectiveness of the drug may be reduced.

There are no restrictions on vaccination for cancer patients who receive cyclic treatment, but do not have signs of hematological toxicity: neutropenia, lymphopenia and leukopenia. In some cases, the procedure is recommended during a certain period of cancer treatment. So, in case of oncohematological diseases, it is better to give an injection before starting treatment or during treatment with a stable level of lymphocytes.
