Russians warned against trying to “sleep off the whole year” on New Year’s holidays

Doctor Andrei Tyazhelnikov warned about the dangers of long sleep during the New Year holidays.

“To usefully spend the New Year’s holidays, you do not need to try to“ sleep off the whole year, ”said the chief freelance specialist in primary health care for the adult population of the Moscow Department of Health, according to the Moskva agency.

Attempts to sleep off during the holidays can turn into lethargy and apathy. “Sleeping too long is just as bad for your health as not getting enough sleep. This is important not only for sleep, but also for situations when we, in general, do not leave the house, “Tyazhelnikov explained.

In this regard, the physician urged the Russians to compensate for the lack of sleep on New Year’s Eve by resting in the afternoon on December 31. “You can sleep in the afternoon of December 31, but on the morning of January 1, it is still advisable to set an alarm,” the expert suggested.

He also advised Russians not to overeat or abuse alcohol during the New Year holidays. “On New Year’s Eve, many relax and jump out into the street heated up. However, even a short stay in the cold can cause hypothermia and, as a result, a disease, ”Tyazhelnikov warned.

Earlier, the physician named a category of citizens who do not tolerate winter and persistent frosts.
