The AMT will resume the release processes on January 17. The reason why more vehicles have been detained in 2021 is for infringing the Pico y Placa.
The deadline to release vehicles held in Quito for infractions or contraventions expires this Wednesday, December 29, due to the close of the fiscal year, reported the Metropolitan Transit Agency (AMT).
The Agency indicates that in Vehicle Retention Centers (CRV) there are motor vehicles whose drivers violate municipal ordinances or the Comprehensive Organic Criminal Code (COIP).
The requirements and procedure that owners must follow to recover their cars vary depending on whether the offense that was committed was due to not respecting an ordinance or the COIP. Information and instructions are available on the AMT website.
If it is a question of releasing a vehicle sanctioned by the COIP, the attention in the retention centers will be from 08:00 to 16:30; but if it is due to having breached an ordinance, the procedure may be carried out until 22:00.
In Quito there are nine CRVs:
- Carapungo, located on av. Geovanny Calles and José Viteri.
- The ‘Y’, located on av. August 10, next to the old North Trole station.
- Gualaquiza, located on calle Gualaquiza and av. Luis Tufiño.
- Las Cuadras 1, located on av. Matilde Álvarez and av. Mariscal Sucre.
- Las Cuadras 2, located on av. Matilde Álvarez and av. Mariscal Sucre.
- Rumichaca, located on av. Rumichaca and av. Matilde Álvarez.
- Bicentenario 1, located in the Iturralde passage and av. from the press.
- Bicentennial 2, located on José Borrero and Rosales streets.
- Río Coca, located on av. Rio Coca and Rosales.
According to the AMT, so far in 2021, 17,863 vehicles entered the CRVs. This figure is 11.60% more than in 2020, when 16,006 automobiles entered.
This year, the five most recurrent fouls were: Pico y Placa, 6,557; pending values, 4,551; traffic accidents without injuries, 3,147; traffic accidents with injuries, 2,377; and informal transportation, 439.
The release processes will resume from January 17, 2022. (I)
