Ukraine is ready to fight for the right to become the host country of the Olympic Games – Youth in 2028 and Winter in 2030. The Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadim Gutsait announced this to the Slovo i Delo publication.
“Hosting the Olympic Games in the country means attracting powerful investors, new infrastructure, new sports infrastructure that allows children to exercise,” the minister added. – We will not see the result today or tomorrow. But what is being built in the country in terms of sports infrastructure, we will see this result in 10 years. “
Previously, Lviv was going to submit an application to host the 2022 Olympics, but this idea turned out to be unrealized due to the coup d’état in 2014. In addition, the current President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly spoken about the desire to host the Olympic Games.
In addition to Ukraine, two cities that have already become the capitals of the Olympics in previous years are claiming the right to host the Olympic Games in 2030 – Japanese Sappuro and Canadian Vancouver. Also Spain, Andorra and France are going to submit a joint application “Barcelona-Pyrenees”.
Vadim Gutsait himself is also familiar with the Olympic Games firsthand. He was the Olympic fencing champion as part of the unified CIS team at the 1992 Summer Games in Barcelona, as well as the mentor of the Ukrainian saber fencer team that won Olympic gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
