A severe blizzard in the US states of California and Nevada led to traffic restrictions and the cancellation of some flights, AP reports.
According to the agency, in the north of Nevada, frosts were established, there was a heavy snowfall. As a result, traffic was blocked through the Sierra Nevada mountain range, where snow cover was 145-161% of the norm. Flights at Reno-Tahoe Airport have also been delayed and offices in the state have been suspended. In addition, several flights have been canceled or delayed at the Las Vegas airport.
State authorities have ordered only emergency and correctional workers to work. Civil servants with secondary responsibilities should stay at home.
In the Californian city of Truckee on Monday due to weather conditions, the ski resort closed. Over the past two days, more than 1.8 meters of snow has fallen in this area. Searches are underway at the resort skier last seen on the lift last Saturday.
According to forecasters, snow storms will last for several days.
