Sokurov refused to return to dispute with Putin in response to criticism of Kadyrov

Alexander Sokurov refused to comment on the words of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, about the dispute between the director and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and said that it was “wrong” to return to this topic. He told RIA Novosti about this.

“I don’t want to comment on this topic – all that I could say about this, I have already said … I consider it wrong to return to this topic,” the director said.

Earlier, Kadyrov said that by his statements at a meeting between Putin and the HRC members, Sokurov “wanted to ignite the conflict in the North Caucasus” and promote himself at the expense of the president, and also called the director a “venal face.”

Recall that earlier at the HRC meeting, Sokurov turned rather sharply to President Vladimir Putin and received a harsh response. The director said that the republics of the North Caucasus allegedly became mono-national, and offered to release those who do not want to live with Russia in the same state. Putin replied that from Sokurov’s part it was “not a speech, but a manifesto, a set of fears that some part of our citizens have.” Putin advised Sokurov to be more careful when discussing interethnic relations: “Don’t be dashing, as we say. This must be taken very seriously. And superficially, it is impermissible even for you to talk about it all over the country. These are dangerous toys, I assure you. “
