As the Secretary General of the Russian Figure Skating Federation Alexander Kogan announced the day before, the 19-year-old figure skater “in accordance with the rules of the FFKKR will receive permission to compete for the Italian federation from June 1, 2022.”
Initially, the Russian figure skater Elizaveta Nugumanova announced Talalaikina’s transfer to the Italian team in August. However, in November, “Sport-Express” reported that the FFKKR refused Maria. Despite this, the athlete moved to Europe. Now she can start training under the guidance of Italian specialists.
In Russia, Talalaikina’s coach was Evgeny Rukavitsyn from St. Petersburg.
It is noteworthy that the scandalous State Duma deputy Vitaly Milonov, who was elected from the Northern capital, criticized Maria for moving to a foreign team. According to the parliamentarian, Talalaikina “betrayed” her homeland for the sake of money. “We invested energy” in the skater, and she “fled to another country for a better life,” the politician said.
The publication Championat.com stated earlier that our country is massively deprived of high-level skaters. So, figure skater Anastasia Gubanova made a choice in favor of Georgia, and Anastasia Gracheva – Moldova. Men do not lag behind Russian girls: Vladimir Samoilov changed his sports citizenship to Poland, and Yegor Murashov – to Switzerland.
