Russians were told how to insulate an apartment

To maintain a comfortable temperature in the apartment, you need to get rid of heat leaks by insulating the window openings. Sergey Pobedonostsev, project manager for integrated security systems, spoke about this in an interview with Sputnik radio.

According to him, the ability of a building to retain heat depends on many factors, and in some cases, winter frosts lead to the fact that the room is cooled faster than the central heating batteries have time to warm it. At the same time, the expert warned, the most dangerous thing is to try to increase the air temperature in the apartment using a gas stove.

“When gas burns out, oxygen in the living space burns out and carbon dioxide is formed, which is not good for human health and lungs. To use the gas safely, a fresh air supply must be open to replace the burnt out air. If this does not happen, then a banal poisoning may occur, “Pobedonostsev pointed out.

In his opinion, the second most dangerous way to warm a home may be to use too powerful devices at home. “I would advise putting less load on the power grid in cold weather. There is no need to heat apartments with convectors, electric stoves, heat guns and so on. They overload the power grid, and in many of our homes it has significant wear and tear. Excess load from powerful heating devices can lead to a fire in the wiring and a fire in the house, ”the specialist warned.

To maintain a comfortable temperature in the apartment, he advised to get rid of heat leaks using “old-fashioned ways”. “It is better to insulate the windows in the old-fashioned way. I advise covering the windows with cotton wool, as well as glueing all the seams of the inter-window frames. In addition, a heat-insulating screen should be placed between the battery and the wall of the house to reflect heat radiation. It will not let the heat go into the concrete, but will reflect it back into the room. This is also an old old-fashioned way, which no one has surpassed yet, ”the expert believes.
