In Ambato and Baños, capacity is limited to prevent COVID-19 infections during holidays

The cantonal Emergency Operations Committees (COE) of Ambato and Baños de Agua Santa adopted some resolutions in order to avoid crowds and COVID-19 infections during the Christmas and New Year festivities.

The cantonal COE of Ambato chaired by the mayor Javier Altamirano decided to maintain the yellow epidemiological traffic light, but until January 6 the maximum capacity in the premises that carry out commercial activities will be 50%, limiting the opening hours until 11:00 p.m. Monday to Thursday, while Friday and Saturday will be until 00:01.

It was also reported that social events in closed reception rooms are prohibited, while in open spaces such as villas are authorized with a maximum capacity of 60 people.

While capacity is limited to 50% in markets, fairs, shopping centers, entrepreneurship fairs, restaurants, auditoriums, theaters, cinemas, cemeteries, car fair, tourist complexes, gyms, sports fields, churches, convention centers, bars, discos, nightlife centers and the like.

The cantonal COE urged the administrators of the premises to request the presentation of the vaccination card with the two doses and to the older adults the booster dose.

Altamirano said that the ban on the sale and consumption of alcoholic beverages in public spaces was ratified, in addition to the holding of events such as concerts, children’s passes, novenas, popular dances, festivals, burning of puppets in public spaces, festivals, neighborhood events and the use of fireworks.

He commented that an inter-institutional communication campaign will be carried out in order to raise awareness about the importance of compliance with biosafety protocols, such as permanent use of a mask, hand washing, use of alcohol or antiseptic gel, adequate ventilation and social distancing.

Meanwhile, in Baños the capacity was limited to 75% in bars, discos, karaoke bars, tolerance centers, nightlife centers, places where from December 31 to 06:00 on January 1, 2,022 the attention.
