The Russian concern “Gazprom” again did not want to book the capacity of the Yamal – Europe gas pipeline for the transit of fuel through Poland to Germany, follows from the data of the GSA Platform.
The company previously reserved deliveries not on a regular basis (ending at 19:00 Moscow time), but at an additional session (ending at 4:30 Moscow time), and also used a short-term intraday booking for several hours. However, on Friday, for the fourth day in a row, these options were again unclaimed, RIA Novosti reports.
Let us also remind that on December 22, the Ukrainian state-owned company Naftogaz complained to the European Commission about Gazprom, which was “guilty” of the sharp rise in gas prices in Europe. According to the company, the Russian concern has significantly reduced the sale of its own gas on the European spot market, which limits the ability of its potential competitors to supply additional volumes of gas to Europe.
We add that against the backdrop of Gazprom’s refusal to book capacities, a new surge in natural gas prices in Europe took place earlier – the cost of fuel jumped to a record $ 2,190 per thousand cubic meters, which is extremely painful for both household consumers and industry. However, later the gas price dropped significantly.
And on the eve of Bloomberg said that gas supplies from Russia to Europe decreased due to the fact that against the background of rising prices, the number of customers decreased. According to the agency’s sources, based on prices in long-term contracts, some of the fuel buyers have already exhausted their supply limits. Therefore, they are offered to pay extra for the additional volume at very high market prices, but this option does not suit them.
