In the northern capital, the People’s Artist of Russia, the star of the “Streets of Broken Lanterns” series Vadim Lobanov passed away. The information about the death of the 81-year-old actor was confirmed to the Rosbalt correspondent by the press service of the St. Petersburg State University, where he headed the department of theatrical art of the Faculty of Arts.
It is known that the actor was seriously ill for several years.
Vadim Lobanov began his creative career in Tallinn in 1960, where he worked as a TV announcer and actor at the Russian Drama Theater. Later he graduated from the theater school named after MS Schepkin, worked in the Moscow theater “Skomorokh”, Irkutsk Drama Theater named after N.P. Okhlopkov and the Omsk Academic Drama Theater. In St. Petersburg, he performed at the Maly Drama Theater, ABDT im. M. Gorky (now – Bolshoi Drama Theater named after G. A. Tovstonogov) and in the theater-festival “Baltic House”.
Lobanov also played about 70 roles in films. Among the most famous are Moonsund, Stalingrad, the series Streets of Broken Lanterns, The Master and Margarita and Deadly Force.
