US Deputy Permanent President to the United Nations Richard Mills warned Russia that in the event of “any military aggression against Ukraine” it would face “large-scale consequences” and pay a “high price”.
As reported on the website of the US mission to the UN, Washington has once again condemned “the strengthening of the military power of the Russian Federation and aggressive rhetoric directed against Ukraine.” Mills recalled that international law prohibits forceful attempts to change borders.
“We call on Russia to de-escalate, work through diplomatic channels and ensure the transparency of its military activities,” the deputy chairman stressed.
On Wednesday, Russia held an informal meeting of the UN Security Council, which discussed violations of the rights of national minorities in Ukraine and the Baltic countries. After that, the representations of the United States, Ukraine, Great Britain and the European Union issued a statement in which they threatened Moscow with “serious consequences” in the event of military aggression on Ukrainian territory.
Let us remind you that another aggravation of the situation around Ukraine has been going on since November and is caused by hypothetical plans of the Russian Federation’s attack on Ukraine. The Russian side denies the accusations in this regard.
