“Naftogaz” complains to the European Commission about “Gazprom”, which does not let competitors into its “pipe”

The Ukrainian state-owned company Naftogaz has complained to the European Commission against the Russian Gazprom, which is “guilty” of the sharp rise in gas prices in Europe. According to the company, Gazprom has significantly reduced sales of its own gas on the European spot market, which limits the ability of its potential competitors to supply additional volumes of gas to Europe.

The goal of Gazprom, Naftogaz believes, is to create an artificial shortage of gas in the European market and to put pressure on the European Union to launch the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline as soon as possible, which was built but failed to pass certification.

The applicants ask to force Gazprom to admit private suppliers into its transport system and to put up for sale via an electronic platform significant volumes of gas for delivery at the border of Ukraine and the Russian Federation or Ukraine and the EU countries.

The new surge in natural gas prices is associated with yet another refusal by Gazprom to reserve capacities for the transit of natural gas through Poland via the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline. As a result, the price of gas exceeded $ 2,150 per 1,000 cubic meters, which is a record high and extremely painful for both household consumers and industry.
