In the analysis period, 302 routes and 1,632 public transport frequencies were approved and delivered to inter- and intra-provincial cooperatives.
This afternoon the Board of the National Traffic Agency (ANT) met to discuss various issues related to road regulations. Among the most relevant points of the meeting, which directly concern the safety of passengers, pedestrians and drivers, the technical and legal reports that indicate inconsistencies in the granting of routes and frequencies to public transport cooperatives were reviewed, between March 2020 and May 2021, when the pandemic most strongly affected the country’s administrative and commercial activities.
After two hours, the Board of Directors decided to start the administrative process to suspend said routes and frequencies.
“The director of the National Transit Agency, Adrián Castro, reported that only in the last six months there were 52 deaths on these routes and frequencies. It is presumed that the main cause of the accidents were the scams that were generated by the oversupply of inter and intraprovincial transport, “the ANT reported in a statement.
At least five drivers in a state of intoxication have detected the CTE in three days of operations in La Puntilla and La Aurora, on the eve of holidays for the end of the year parties
According to the document, “the legal technical report indicates that there is no record of legal reports that support the relevance and requirements to grant increases in routes and frequencies” in part of the cases analyzed. While in other cases, “the documents presented do not agree with the requested procedure.”
In the analysis period, 302 routes and 1,632 public transport frequencies were approved and delivered to inter- and intra-provincial cooperatives.
“It was determined that routes were delivered that left at the same time from a starting point to the same destination for 495 km, which degenerated into ‘the war of the penny’, that is, the dispute on the routes to pick up passengers”, communicated.
The ANT assured that the operation of the historic routes will be guaranteed and that it will not affect the passenger transport service in those areas where the bus service did not arrive before the pandemic. (I)
