The State Duma adopted in the second reading a bill on the creation of a unified biometric system in Russia, a Rosbalt correspondent reports.
According to the new rules, the regulation on a unified biometric system, including the procedure for its functioning and interaction with other information systems, will be approved by the government in agreement with other authorities.
Individuals who have an account are assigned the right to place their biometric personal data in the above system using Russian software. Such an opportunity will appear, including for citizens of the Russian Federation living abroad.
When processing such data, it is charged with ensuring their safety from various threats, the bill says. “In the state information systems of accredited state bodies, the collection and transfer of biometric personal data for placement in a unified biometric system is allowed. It is prohibited to carry out other operations on the processing of biometric personal data in the state information systems of accredited state bodies, ”the adopted bill states.
