Poroshenko was charged with treason, signed by the Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine

The ex-president of Ukraine and the leader of the European Solidarity (EU) party, Petro Poroshenko, has been charged with high treason. This was announced by the ex-secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) of Ukraine and the head of the central headquarters of the political force Oleksandr Turchinov, the video of the press conference was posted on his page in Facebook.

According to Turchinov, the suspicion was brought against Poroshenko in the framework of the case on the purchase of coal from Donbass. Turchynov also pointed to the “military aggravation” in the region in 2014-2015 and stressed that at that time the Ukrainian leadership was able to “ensure the country’s energy security” with the help of coal supplies.

At the same time, Turchynov noted that Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova did not sign the suspicion against Poroshenko. Deputy Prosecutor General Aleksey Symonenko did it instead.

We will remind, on December 18 it was reported that Poroshenko went on a diplomatic tour in Poland and Turkey precisely after an attempt to summon him for interrogation on charges of organizing coal supplies from the unrecognized republic of the DPR. This was reported by “European Solidarity”. At the same time, alternative versions are heard – for example, the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the Opposition Platform – For Life party Renat Kuzmin suggested that Poroshenko followed the example of his predecessor Viktor Yanukovych and left for Russia.

We are talking about Poroshenko’s involvement in the supply of coal to state-owned enterprises of Ukraine from territories not subordinate to Kiev in late 2014 – early 2015. As announced by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova, the cost of these consignments of coal exceeds 200 million hryvnia (about $ 7.6 million).
