This weekend, four tons of cocaine were seized in two containers that were carrying balsa wood.
Once again in the pre-boarding area of one of the Guayaqui ports, the Police detected a shipment of more than 4 tons of drugs.
On Saturday night, Operation Pacific 713 was carried out, in which it was discovered that two containers that transported raft wood had been contaminated with cocaine, under the modality of a blind hook.
The shipments were destined for Poland and Denmark.
Each container had 32 packages; 1,876 packages were found in one and 1,916 in the other. Police announced that they gave a total of 3,792 packages that were field tested and tested positive for cocaine hydrochloride.
It is a gross weight of 4.28 tons and more than 37 million doses that, according to the Police, placed on the international market would have a value of 151 million dollars.
Last week a large shipment of 3 tons of cocaine was also seized from a wooden house of the Guerreros del Fortín cooperative, in the northwest of Guayaquil.
So far in 2021, 201 tons have been seized, of which 50 tons have been withdrawn from the eight maritime ports of Ecuador, mainly in Guayaquil. Last year the number of seizures did not exceed 128 tons nationwide. (I)
