The province of Esmeraldas registered 136 violent deaths until last week, according to the National Police Subzone 8
Seven men were murdered, five of them hitman-style, in three towns in the province of Esmeraldas, between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
The first crime occurred at around 7:00 p.m., on Rocafuerte streets between Olmedo and Sucre, in the center of the Emerald capital. The victim received two bullet wounds in the back by an individual who crossed the street. This crime was recorded by a private video camera.
The merchant Darwin Arroyo Mina was sitting with two other men in the doorway of a house when he was assassinated. The criminal would have escaped in a white car.

Then at 20:00, the Police reported the shooting murder of cousins Daniel C. C (16) and Yorkael CQ (17) while they were in the doorway of a house, in the Aire Libre Alto neighborhood, southwest of the Emerald capital.
A 2-year-old girl and a 30-year-old woman were slightly injured by the rubbing of the bullets fired by unknown individuals. This incident, apparently, was due to quarrels between criminal groups, according to the Police.
While in a shrimp farm, in the El Cuerval compound, La Tola parish, north of Esmeraldas, a man was shot dead. Five subjects would have entered the property with the intention of stealing, early Sunday morning. The guards on duty avoided the robbery.

Players killed
Winer Cedeño Zambrano (28) and Javier Torres Sánchez (37) were murdered and a third person was injured inside a hotel, located on 26 de Agosto avenue and Padre Mariani streets, in the city of San Lorenzo, northern border of Esmeraldas, early yesterday morning.
The victims were members of the Club del Pueblo football team, from Shushufindi (Sucumbíos) and were invited to a sporting event in San Lorenzo del Pailón, the previous Saturday. Later, at night, they went out to a fun center and in the early morning the two men were attacked and left a poster with threats.
Inmate found dead
In cell 13 of pavilion C, of the Center for Privados de Libertad No. 2 Esmeraldas, inmate Jhon Arroyo Quiñónez was found dead.
Apparently he was hanged as he was found suspended with a sheet around his neck. The guards later realized that they were looking for him in his cell, because he was not at the check-in time for the list of inmates, at 5:00 p.m. the previous Saturday.
While in the Santa Julia neighborhood, Voluntad de Dios sector, south of the Emerald capital, a man was shot, reported to ECU911, residents of the sector. The wounded man was taken by neighbors in a private vehicle to the South Delfina Torres hospital (I)
