The Department of the Federal Penitentiary Service for the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug announced the death of oppositionist and lawyer Alexei Navalny (included in the list of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring) in correctional colony No. 3. He was 47 years old.
The press service of the department revealed the details of the incident. It turned out that everything happened after the walk. “The convict felt unwell, almost immediately losing consciousness,” the Federal Penitentiary Service said in a statement.
It is noted that the colony’s medical workers carried out “the necessary resuscitation measures” for Navalny, but “did not give positive results.” An ambulance team was also called to the colony, whose doctors confirmed the death of the convict.
Currently, the causes of Navalny’s death are being clarified. According to sources from REN TV and RT, the oppositionist suffered a blood clot. However, there is no official confirmation of this version yet.
Kremlin official representative Dmitry Peskov has already commented on the information about Navalny’s death in the colony. According to him, the FSIN carries out all inspections, this does not require special instructions.
The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee for the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug has begun a procedural investigation into the death of Navalny.
Navalny was in the Polar Wolf colony in the village of Kharp, where he was transferred from the Vladimir region.
