Following Latvia and Lithuania, the Russian Charge d’Affaires was summoned to the Estonian Foreign Ministry

Charge d’Affaires of Russia Lenar Salimullin was summoned to the Estonian Foreign Ministry. The reason was that Estonian Prime Minister Kai Kallas and Secretary of State Taimar Peterkop were put on the wanted list in Russia.

As noted in the ministry’s press release, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed indignation to the Charge d’Affaires of the Russian Federation and requested a written explanation of this information. “Such steps by the Russian state will not have the desired effect on the country’s politics and that Estonia will not change its direction in supporting Ukraine,” the diplomatic service added.

Earlier, the Latvian Foreign Ministry demanded an explanation from Russia in connection with putting its politicians on the wanted list, noting that “politically motivated charges” had been brought against Latvian citizens. The Lithuanian authorities also expressed protest to Moscow. The Charge d’Affaires of the Russian Federation was also summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and presented with a diplomatic note expressing a “strong protest,” the diplomatic department clarified.

Let us recall that on the eve of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs put on the wanted list the Prime Minister of Estonia Kaja Kallas, the Secretary of State of this country Taimar Peterkop, the Minister of Culture of Lithuania Simonas Kairys, as well as deputies of the Seimas of Latvia. They appear in the case of the destruction and damage of monuments to Soviet soldiers.
