There is an excess of cars from China on the Russian market, and in the future there will be a balancing act between different brands and models, said Mikhail Osetrov, vice-president of the Union of Auto Experts and Appraisers, co-founder of AutoExpert.
He noted that all last year new Chinese models were imported into the Russian market, and it was unclear how they would work on the market. This year, demand will be satisfied by already known models, and those that sell poorly will simply be abandoned, writes ridus.ru.
According to the expert, a significant reduction in prices is not expected. Chinese manufacturers most likely will not agree to this, and for Russian dealers the cost of purchasing cars is not much different from the final price for buyers.
He also noted that taxes, customs and transportation take a significant part of the profit, so there is no way to significantly reduce prices. Some promotions are possible, for example, a gift in the form of winter tires, but not a significant reduction in prices from five to four million rubles.
The market has stabilized, the expert added. He predicts that the physical volume of the car market will not grow this year, and the monetary volume can only increase due to expensive cars.
