A massive accident involving 27 cars occurred near Moscow, where Cyclone Olga was raging (photo)

A fatal accident involving about 30 cars occurred on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 7, on the 86th km of the M-4 Don highway in the Moscow region.

A massive accident was recorded in the Stupino area. After a collision of 27 cars, traffic on the highway was paralyzed due to a huge traffic jam. The causes and all the circumstances of the major accident are currently being established, TASS reports, citing a source in the operational services.

At least one death and three injuries are known. Traffic police officers are working at the scene of the accident.

The Moscow Region Prosecutor’s Office clarified the number of vehicles involved in the mass accident. “Currently, there is information about damage to 25 cars and four trucks,” the press service of the supervisory agency said in a statement. A passenger bus was sent to the scene of the accident to warm people.

Earlier, weather forecaster Evgeny Tishkovets warned about record snowfall in Moscow, which was brought by cyclone Olga. In the capital, in bad weather conditions, visibility on the roads has deteriorated.

The Moscow Traffic Organization Center reported that the snowfall in the city will last until tomorrow. Muscovites were urged to temporarily transfer to the metro, MCC, and MCD to travel around the city.
