Former adviser to the office of the President of Ukraine Alexey Arestovich (included in the Russian Federation list of terrorists and extremists) was arrested in absentia in Moscow, reports the press service of the city courts. Arestovich is accused under two articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorism and fake news about the army) – Part 2 of Art. 205.2 of the Criminal Code and clause āeā, part 2 of Art. 207.3 CC.
The court demanded that Arestovich be sent to prison for 2 months. The arrest begins immediately after the politician is detained or handed over to Russian law enforcement agencies when crossing the border in connection with the extradition of the suspect to foreign law enforcement agencies.
Let us remind you that the ex-adviser to Vladimir Zelensky resigned from his post on January 14 last year amid statements about a missile hitting a residential building in the Dnieper due to the actions of the Ukrainian army. Then Arestovich stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces shot down an enemy missile, which then destroyed the wall of the building. The president’s office approved the resignation 3 days later – on January 17, the politician left the post of Zelensky’s assistant.
Later it became known that a criminal case had been initiated against Arestovich in Ukraine. The politician is accused of falsely reporting the commission of a crime (Part 1 of Article 383 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and of promoting violence (Article 300 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
