Scientific Director of the Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand announced the weather forecast in Moscow for the coming week.
The capital region is expected to see snow, gloomy weather and low air pressure from this weekend until the end of next week, he said. The forecaster in an interview with TASS explained that such changes are caused by the movement of the center of the cyclone, which will be over Moscow.
Vilfand promised “normal mild weather” on Saturday, February 3, but warned of severe icy conditions due to freezing of melted snow. On Sunday afternoon, February 4, the capital will experience temperatures from zero to plus two degrees. On the afternoon of Monday, February 5, in Moscow it will be from minus two to plus two degrees.
The expert predicted the return of the weather regime in Moscow to normal climatic conditions from Tuesday, February 6. “Already on Tuesday, both at night and during the day, the temperature will be minus 2-7 degrees, which is close to long-term values, and then the temperature will drop,” Vilfand said. On Wednesday afternoon, frost of five degrees is forecast, on Thursday – up to minus 3-4 degrees, and on Friday – up to 5-10 degrees below zero.
At the same time, the forecaster predicted an increase in snow cover in the capital in the coming days. By the end of next week he will have gained 5 cm again, Vilfand added.
