“To be able to give a message of hope to all people. Now more than ever it is necessary because many values have been lost in families; that is why we experience the consequences of this lack of values. Our message is accompanied by social help, ”says Abraham Sotomayor, senior pastor of the Ministry La Hermosa Filial Domingo Comín about the Family day, an event that everyone can attend regardless of their religious beliefs.
Created in 2008, this event is the culmination of the social work carried out by this group. “In 2018 we started with aid and since then we have not stopped, even with the pandemic. We accompany families and people who are on the streets. The days before Family Day we will bring a basket of food (valued between $ 50 and $ 60 each) to 300 families that will be divided into different sectors such as Las Malvinas, El Suburbio, Guasmo norte and Sergio Toral ” , He says.
Members of this evangelical church also organize medical brigades through fairs, in which medical care is provided. “We give them vitamin serums, we bring barbers to cut their hair for free, ophthalmologists, we do games and activities for the children; We distribute food to hospitals like the Ycaza Bustamante. Also, before the event we gave lunches in the Malvinas to 80 children who do not have resources, apart from that they are given a full lunch and breakfasts every week ”.
On December 19, at 5:15 p.m., at the Teatro Centro Cívico, the Family day, an occasion to spend a pleasant time. “There will be theater presentations, dances, live music, and we will also take the opportunity to give a word of hope so that people can value life,” says Sotomayor.
Last year, in the middle of the COVD-19 pandemic, the activities of this congregation did not stop. “Due to the capacity we held an event where about 200 people gathered, even though the place was for about 500. We did the same work that we are doing this year, but in 2021 we increased our activities because the restrictions were reduced. “That day is for people to enjoy, but if there are people who want to collaborate with food, they are welcome; it would be a blessing for us to continue helping people with limited resources ”.
Family Day 2021
The invitation is open to all audiences, with all the security protocols issued by the COE and a contingency plan that the organizers have developed. The event will take place this Sunday, December 19, at 5:15 p.m., at the Centro Cívico Theater (Quito between Venezuela and El Oro). (I)
