There are more million-plus airports in Russia

Three more old new million-plus airports have appeared in Russia, RBC discovered. Airports in Orenburg, Grozny and Saratov were able to increase passenger traffic to more than 1 million people per year. At the same time, Arkhangelsk ceased to be a million-plus city and dropped out of the ranking of the country’s largest air harbors.

RBC notes that airports with a million passenger traffic now include Gagarin in Saratov (1.07 million people), Orenburg International Airport (1.04 million people) and Airport. A. Kadyrov in Grozny (about 1 million people). At the same time, the Grozny airfield was able to increase passenger traffic by almost 30%, as follows from the study results.

At the same time, in Arkhangelsk Talagi the figure dropped to 430 thousand people per year. This decline is explained by the fact that the airport was closed from last spring until December. It is clarified that technical work was carried out on the runway to restore the surface. The local small airport Vaskovo temporarily replaced Talagi for receiving international and federal flights.

At the same time, airports in Irkutsk and Kazan showed the best results in terms of growth in the number of passengers – 44% and 29%, respectively. The press service of the Kazan air harbor saw a connection between the change in international destinations in the last two years and the increase in the number of passengers.

Earlier it became known that Sochi airport served about 14 million people over the past year. Sochi is an important resort city that attracts tourists from all over the country.
