Tour operators provided information to RT about the most popular destinations among Russian tourists during the past holidays.

According to the association, Russian cities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as Veliky Ustyug, are still in trend for the New Year holidays, and Krasnodar Territory and Karelia stand out among the regions. Ski tourism is in demand and the most popular in this area are Krasnaya Polyana (Sochi), Sheregesh (Kemerovo region), Dombay (Karachaevo-Cherkessia), Arkhyz (Karachaevo-Cherkessia) and other resorts of the Elbrus region of various levels.

It is worth noting that the tourist flow in Sochi, according to the mayor of the city Kopaigorodsky, is growing every year and last year exceeded 7.4 million tourists.

Among foreign destinations, the leaders are Egypt, Thailand, the UAE, Cuba and Sri Lanka. Exotic countries such as Thailand remain especially attractive for Russian tourists.
