Forecaster Vilfand predicted temperatures above normal throughout the country

According to Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center, unusual weather conditions are expected in several regions of Russia in the coming days. According to him, in almost all parts of the country the temperature will significantly exceed the established norms, writes RT.

In particular, the specialist noted that such anomalies will be typical for the north of European Russia and the Asian part of the country. Temperatures are forecast to rise 8-10°C above normal. At the end of January and beginning of February, when severe frosts are usually expected, temperatures will still be significantly warmer, instead of 40-degree frosts there will be 30-degree frosts. Vilfand explained that this is due to the movement of the cyclone across the Arctic Ocean, which carries a large amount of heat from the Atlantic. The forecaster added that this process will lead to warm weather in the north, as cold air masses will not be able to penetrate into temperate latitudes.

Noting that temperatures in Moscow are expected to rise 5-6 °C above normal during the week, Vilfand also said that in the south of European Russia the temperature will be approximately at normal levels. For example, in the Krasnodar Territory, slightly negative temperatures are expected at night and slightly positive temperatures during the day. He also warned of strong winds on the coast of the European part of Russia, reaching 35 m/s in the Murmansk region and up to 30 m/s in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, which he called a truly dangerous phenomenon.
