A few hours ago, a video of a slightly disturbed citizen described the people detained by the police and army as seeds.
The government proudly states that in recent days 36,390 operations have been carried out in which 3,219 people have been arrested and 5 killed. Every day Ecuadorians see pictures of detainees captured with drugs, firearms and knives in the daily reports of the police and armed forces.
Drugs seized on the coast of Manta
Somehow these results make us Ecuadorians who have experienced the worst crisis of violence in recent years a little calmer. However, there is something troubling. Two weeks have passed, and so far we have not seen the names of the arrested politicians, policemen, judges and drug lords.
With the coat-and-tie criminals intact, more seeds will appear that will… make us want to go back to the scene of this movie.
A few days ago, in a lightning operation carried out at dawn, in one of the valuable valleys of Quito, more than a hundred weapons were seized and a citizen was arrested who was given house arrest because he is an elderly adult. Not even a week has passed, and the judge revokes the prison sentence without further ado because the representative of the prosecutor’s office indicated that the case in question should be left pending until additional evidence is collected and the investigative procedure is determined.
In this case, it was about a citizen who had more than 100 weapons with him, so the question arises what will happen to those arrested who were captured with one or two weapons. Will they all be released?
4107 detainees and 90 operations against terrorist groups, in 18 days of Plan Fénix
A million-dollar seizure of more than 22 tons of drugs, valued at more than $1 million on the international market, was also made at a property in Los Ríos. A person who was apparently guarding the property was captured. It is worrying that so far it has not been established who owns the property where the million dollar stock was found.
At the moment, Ecuador is under a declaration of internal armed conflict and this gives the country special powers to fight against criminal groups. This state is not eternal.
The military uses technological equipment to detect weapons buried in the Sucumbíos prison
We Ecuadorians know that those responsible for drug trafficking and organized crime are not the small seeds that are locked up today and are like cannon fodder. It is evident that the money from the drug trade enabled the mafia to infiltrate the state apparatus and therefore we demand from the authorities the names of political actors, police, members of the Armed Forces, judges, prosecutors and others who enabled them to reach the kind of hell we live in. We also want to know the names of those who launder drug money. It is an open secret that this has been happening in the country for many years.
If they do not stop, the violence will not stop, but will return with force.
With the coat and tie criminals intact, many more little seeds will emerge that will unscrupulously make us return to the scene of this horror movie we watched the night the president declared martial law. What hurts here is that we are the victims. (OR)
