Peskov denied reports of Russia’s readiness for Ukraine to join NATO

Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov did not confirm the report of the Bloomberg news agency about Moscow’s refusal to demand Ukraine to sever relations with NATO, the Telegram channel of the Mayak radio station reports. According to Peskov, “this is an incorrect message” that “does not correspond to reality.”

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Russia could allegedly agree with Ukraine’s desire to join NATO in exchange for Kyiv recognizing the loss of all territories where referendums on joining the Russian Federation have already been held. At the same time, the news agency refers to two sources close to the Kremlin. According to them, in December 2023, a dialogue took place between the United States and Russia, during which the parties discussed a possible solution to the Ukrainian conflict, including through a compromise by Vladimir Putin. Bloomberg also claimed that Putin “may be ready” to abandon Kyiv’s neutral status and the subsequent integration of Ukraine with NATO.

Earlier, US National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson denied rumors about upcoming negotiations with Russia regarding the Ukrainian conflict. Watson said that Ukraine itself must decide how and when to start a dialogue with Moscow.

Let us remember that Secretary of State Antony Blinken has repeatedly said that Washington does not see conditions for a ceasefire in Ukraine. According to Blinken, Russia needs to recognize the sovereignty and independence of Kyiv.
