Infectious disease specialist Voznesensky spoke about rapidly spreading infectious diseases in Russia

Infectious disease doctor Sergei Voznesensky spoke about the three most rapidly spreading infectious diseases in Russia and gave advice on preventing them.

He explained that there are certain patterns for seasonal infections: intestinal infections spread in summer and autumn, and acute respiratory viral infections spread in autumn and winter, writes ridus.ru.

First on the list of the fastest spreading diseases, according to the doctor, is influenza. In second place is measles, the incidence of which has increased 300 times compared to last year. And in third place is whooping cough, which also belongs to the group of respiratory infections, common in autumn and winter.

One of the main reasons for the spread of measles and whooping cough, in addition to seasonality, is the low level of vaccination in the country. The doctor emphasized that there is a calendar of preventive vaccinations, and if we do not comply with it, we have a group of unvaccinated people. Migrants and residents of annexed territories, where vaccination rates are lower, are added to this group.

The specialist urges all adults who have not previously been vaccinated against measles and whooping cough to do so as soon as possible. The doctor also emphasized the importance of strict adherence to the schedule of preventive vaccinations by all people.
