Unidentified people stole $1.2 million from a crashed Russian Falcon 10 plane in the Afghan province of Badakhshan, local newspaper Hasht e Subh reports, citing informed sources. According to the publication, the people who arrived at the crash site are associated with the main headquarters of the Taliban armed forces (terrorist movement banned in the Russian Federation) Qari Fasihuddin Fitrat.
Following the theft, the governor of Badakhshan from the Taliban, Mohammad Ayub Khalid, created a special commission of inquiry to establish all the circumstances of the crash and the subsequent crime. The order to create an investigation group was signed by the group’s Prime Minister, Muhammad Hassan Akhund. The commission was headed by the head of Afghanistan’s regional intelligence unit, which also reports to the Taliban.
At the same time, neither the Russian nor the Afghan side have yet commented on the information about the creation of a special group to investigate the theft.
The business jet crashed on January 20 near the Tajik-Afghan border. Of the six passengers, four managed to survive. Among them are two pilots and paramedics. They were taken to Kabul for treatment. Emergency services have not yet been able to find the remaining two passengers, but rescue operations are continuing.
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow does not intend to recognize the Taliban government. The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that the Afghan authorities must improve the human rights situation and achieve inclusiveness in the exercise of their powers. According to Lavrov, Russia complies with the provisions of the UN and expects the Afghan side to fulfill a number of obligations, including the protection of human rights and freedoms, as well as the improvement of the situation of women.
