Deputy Bessarab explained the introduction of the status of a large family in Russia

A member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, Svetlana Bessarab, in a conversation with RT, explained the introduction of the status of a large family in Russia. According to the parliamentarian, currently in different regions of Russia there are different interpretations of the concept of “large family”.

“In some regions, given the peculiarities of traditions, a family with three children is not considered to have many children. Therefore, a unified and unlimited definition of this concept is introduced. A common list of support standards for families is being created. For example, this includes pension benefits for mothers. A mother who has given birth and raised three children has the right to retire three years earlier. If there are four children, then the benefit is four years, and so on. Support for families with various benefits and payments is also provided,” Bessarab explained.

She also noted that the decree introduces several new support measures, such as the right to free visits to cultural centers.

“For example, we have the Pushkin Card, but such a privilege did not previously exist for large families. This is important for families who have difficulty attending cultural events. Additionally, support in vocational training is provided for parents, as well as guaranteed preferences in education and kindergarten. The main thing is that the presidential decree provides a guaranteed right to social support, and at the same time, regions cannot cancel existing benefits,” concluded RT’s interlocutor.
