A 10-year-old schoolgirl from Ugra was paralyzed after an acute respiratory infection, according to the official website of the Surgut Clinical Trauma Hospital. According to doctors, the cause of paralysis was a common runny nose that arose against the background of a viral disease. However, then the inflammation led to complications, which became the reason for immediate hospitalization. Initially, the schoolgirl was treated at home with conventional medications, but her condition did not improve.
The girl’s right arm and right leg were paralyzed due to heavy sinus contamination. According to doctors, this condition in the schoolgirl arose due to the penetration of pus into the brain area, as well as the orbit. In this case, the schoolgirl’s vision was not damaged, but purulent accumulations provoked sticking of the eyelids.
Clearing the sinus using drainage did not produce results. Serious paresis appeared on the arm and leg. There was a need for immediate surgical intervention. Doctors had to perform surgery to remove the pus. The specialists operated on the open brain, but everything went well. Thanks to the timely intervention of the hospital’s neurosurgeons, further brain swelling and deterioration of the patient’s condition were avoided.
Now the girl feels much better and is already recovering. The limbs begin to move again. Gradually, the patient’s condition should return to normal. A local ophthalmologist is working with the schoolgirl to correct the situation with her stuck eye and completely restore vision function. The girl’s life is not in danger.
