Russian Railways, after the scandal surrounding the death of the cat Twix, who was thrown out of the carriage by a train conductor, are planning to “personalize the transportation of animals” when issuing a ticket. This was stated by the company’s deputy general director Ivan Kolesnikov during a round table in the State Duma on the rules for transporting pets.
“We plan to personalize the transportation of animals to some extent, so that we can more clearly understand who we are transporting. At the moment this is not in our documents,” RIA Novosti quotes him.
According to him, the investigation into the incident on the train, which was traveling from Yekaterinburg to St. Petersburg, is currently ongoing. The conductor who dropped the pet cat off the train has been temporarily suspended from working with passengers.
Let us remind you that everything happened on January 11 on a train in which a passenger was carrying a cat named Twix in a carrier. At some point, the animal was free and began to run around the carriage. The conductor noticed the cat and threw him out of the train. A few days later, volunteers found the pet’s body.
After this, Russian Railways announced that they would prohibit conductors from disembarking pets from long-distance trains.
Later, a petition appeared on the Internet for the dismissal of the conductor who threw Twix the cat out of the train in Kirov.
