LADA Vesta cars were purchased for State Duma deputies

For the needs of State Duma deputies, 33 LADA Vesta cars were purchased. The Parliamentary Newspaper writes about this with reference to the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation.

“At the end of 2023, using targeted subsidies, motor transport institutions subordinate to the department of affairs purchased 105 LADA Vesta cars,” the message noted. It also clarifies that 33 vehicles are allocated to serve State Duma deputies and staff members.

Previously, parliamentarians used Ford Mondeo and Hyundai. And Genesis was assigned to the State Duma vice-speakers and faction leaders, and BMW and Genesis were assigned to the heads of committees.

The NEWS.ru publication, citing auto expert Ivan Zenkevich, noted that in Lada Vesta cars, deputies will “probably carry pies, correspondent mail, gifts for friends and comrades.” “I doubt deputies will use this vehicle much. This car is of a lower class than those that deputies drive. They have better cars of their own. Why will they switch to Vesta? As a PR move, maybe it’s good,” added Zenkevich.

Let us recall that Russian President Vladimir Putin last year recommended that Russian officials use domestic cars, “although they are more modest than Mercedes or Audi.”
