The development of public transport continues in Vladivostok. The city administration, under the leadership of head Konstantin Shestakov, is implementing a reform that is aimed at creating a comfortable and safe public transport system using modern technologies and payment methods.
The main reform measures are the renewal of the vehicle fleet. Already last year, more than a hundred new buses were added, most of them equipped with air conditioning. This year, the fleet was replenished with another 70 large-class buses and six high-capacity middle-class buses. Thus, by the middle of next year, 90% of public transport will be equipped with air conditioning, writes Pravda.Ru.
Cashless payment for travel was also introduced. Today, all vehicles traveling on regular routes are equipped with a cashless payment system that offers various payment methods, including transport cards and payment via bank cards or smartphones. In addition, new types of tickets have appeared that offer favorable conditions for regular passengers.
The reform also includes the creation of new routes, the allocation of separate lanes for public transport and the provision of benefits for certain categories of citizens. City residents also have the opportunity to track the movement of buses through QR codes at stops, which makes the use of public transport even more convenient and transparent.
In the future, it is planned to build a “light metro”, new transport interchanges, as well as continue to update the bus and electric transport fleet. All this will help create even more comfortable and convenient public transport links in Vladivostok.
