The corpses found showed signs of having been attacked with a tree (stick) and shot at the head, the previous June.
After five months of investigations, the National Police, through the Directorate of Violent Deaths (Dinased), managed to capture the person allegedly responsible for the disappearance and subsequent murder of three men that occurred last June in the Dayuma parish of the Francisco de Orellana.
The victims were identified as José Espinosa Garrido, Fabián Machoa Tapuy and Luis Pardo Sánchez, all of them residents in the Nueva Unión compound.
From that sector they disappeared and then their bodies were found in a state of decomposition buried in a farm
Once various investigations, collation of evidence, images, genetic (DNA) tests and other technical expertise used to clarify these types of events were carried out, the Police located the alleged perpetrator of the triple murder, who was arrested driving a motorcycle stolen that would belong to one of the victims.
Sentence of 34 years and 8 months for a woman who poisoned her two children in Pifo parish
Colonel Edwin Ruiz, commander of the Orellana Police, pointed out that it would be a serial killer, identified as Fabricio Eloy L., 34, who kept the inhabitants of the Dayuma parish in distress.
“The man arrested today was classified as the author of the three cases taking into account the elements of conviction and information collected during the investigation, in conclusion, we are talking about a serial murderer,” said Colonel Edwin Ruiz, commander of the Orellana Police.
According to police investigations, the alleged serial killer approached the victims with deception, taking advantage of the close friendship he had with them, offering them work on agricultural farms belonging to friends and relatives in the sector and then ending their lives and burying them.
The corpses found showed signs of having been attacked with a tree (stick) and shot at the height of the head.
A judge from Francisco de Orellana issued an order of preventive detention and ordered the search of the home of the perpetrator. In the capture operation, the Police found evidence such as a 9-millimeter pistol-type firearm, a motorcycle, six mobile terminals and clothing that would be related to the video images that were collected during the investigation.
According to the psychological profile, it would be a person who has psychological disorders and would act on impulses, unlike a psychopath who acts with planning, said the investigating agents.
“These events are atypical, it is not that here in Orellana they will always occur, they are isolated events in the country, and here in Orellana it is the first case,” said a Dinased agent.
The Dinased is investigating whether or not a murder that occurred in 2017 in the same sector is related to the triple crime attributed to Fabricio Eloy L., who is a native of the province of Loja and lived in Dayuma for a decade.
In the Pifo parish, in the northeast of Quito, last year the capture of a woman classified as a serial murderer was reported for allegedly poisoning several people, including her two children, ages 5 and 9.
In the case of both minors, the woman was sentenced to 34 years in prison. (I)
