At the regional election headquarters of Russian presidential candidate Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg, the first certificates were presented to trusted persons today. As the headquarters told RosBalt news agency, the documents were received by the head of the organization “Residents of Siege Leningrad” Elena Tikhomirova, the head of the St. Petersburg Judo Federation Mikhail Rakhlin and the chairman of the city council of veterans Vasily Volobuev. They are all convinced that representing a presidential candidate is a great honor and responsibility.
“When we meet at competitions, we communicate a lot with representatives of the countries of the former USSR, the CIS, and other international teams. And everyone at our simple everyday level says that they are proud of the kind of president we have. This is such a simple idea. And sports people can just be the ones who will move it,” said Mikhail Rakhlin.

Elena Tikhomirova emphasized that the main task of the trustee is communication with voters. “The most important thing is that our people be united and in no case should there be disunity between people. We must teach young people to distinguish truth from half-truths. And of course, it is important that as many people as possible come to the polls and not just sit at home. We will meet, explain to people the policies that are currently being pursued, and answer questions,” she promised.

In turn, Vasily Volobuev drew attention to the fact that “the connection between generations, historical memory is very important.” “As for the work of proxies, I, as the co-chair of the regional headquarters, will be comfortable speaking in front of any audience, given the achievements that Russia has received in recent years. We will have something to say,” he added.
According to the law on presidential elections in the Russian Federation, the maximum number of proxies that a candidate can appoint is 600 people. All of them receive the appropriate certificates, can conduct campaigning, attend meetings of election commissions, get acquainted with the voting results, and appoint observers. Proxies also have the right to participate in debates.
To date, the Central Election Commission has registered 346 people across the country as proxies of Russian presidential candidate Vladimir Putin, and this list has not yet been closed.
Let us remind you that the Russian presidential elections will be held on March 15–17, 2024. For the first time, residents of four new regions of the country – Donetsk and Lugansk republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions – will take part in the voting, which will last three days.
